"Twenty Six" was recorded by Nate Kosakowski at Catfish Studios, during the (LOUD as hell) Chicago Cicada invasion of 2007. The record was concepted during a break from writing, recording, and touring with my band, "The Scissors."
The material is a reflection of where I was during my 26th year of life. Lots of anxiety, questions on faith/religion, and a wicked breakup to round it out. I was also watching a shitload of HBO's "Six Feet Under" which was supremely blowing my mind at the time. The last two songs "Truly" (smokey studios : recorded by Chris Mason) and "October, It's The Best" (bathroom demo : Recorded by me) were tracked shortly after the original 4 songs were completed and mixed by Matt Allison at Atlas Studios, Chicago.
Please follow and "subscribe/rate" the music on your favorite listening platform. That way you'll be the first to know when I release new music!
Savior: This is about someone who thinks they know better than you do. Master manipulators are well versed in the art of making you feel like you need to follow the leader. In reality, only you have the keys to the car you're driving.
No Call No Show: This is in reference to my band The Scissors. We were on hiatus (which lead to this albums creation). One band member decided to fall off the grid for a while and we were all left wondering if he'd return. In retrospect, I totally get wanting to check out for a while but that doesn't always mean you gotta stop the presses while someone else figures it out.
Going Home: I watched Six Feet Under A LOT back then. One episode that wouldn't escape my brain was the one where the family gives Nate a "Green Funeral." His sister sits out by the grave all night and gets chased off by wolves or some sort of animal. Made me think a ton about my own life and mortality and if God will wanna hang with me in heaven or not.
Re-Election Day: After dealing with Anxiety for so long I wanted to write a song that took a stand and said "no more of this shit." Obviously that stuff never truly goes away, but writing the song HELPED a great deal. Kind of a reference point for me.
Truly: This one's about my old man big time.
October, It's the Best: The "Just cause we broke up doesn't mean we can't be friends" tune. It's a nice bookend to the story and that's why it's included here.
